Image
11/18/2022        Prior to this blog, I have been introduced to the study of Camera work. Shot angles is an element that I've drawn from previous preliminary exercise(s). The ideal function of angle shots is to advance the angle the camera Is being prepositioned to convey a specific feeling during a scene, but how? This topic indulges in the style and format that filmmakers use to create cinematography. This factor is used to also build the audiences idea of the relationship two characters 2 develop in the storyline of a film. Shot angles can vary every few seconds, changing from one camera shot, to another dilating on what the creators want to be seen inside a film. Wether the camera used to record is panoramic, or an old vhs, the producer must ensure that the angles of a scene is used to intensify the mood along side other codes of filmmaking in order to engage the audience.      "It's our film! Why does it matter what the audience think?" Is a...

11/17/2022      Prior to this blog, I have been introduced to the study of Camera work. Camera shots is an element that I've drawn from previous preliminary exercise(s). The ideal function of camera shots is to shoot the actual film that has been preplanned- but how? This topic indulges in the style and format that filmmakers use to create cinematography. This factor is used to illuminate the amount of space being the viewers of a film can see in a frame stamp, or even an entire scene. Camera shots can vary every few seconds, changing from one camera angle, to another dilating on what the creators want to be seen inside a film. Wether the camera used to record is panoramic, or an old vhs, the producer must ensure that the shots during a scene or not only for looking pretty, but to also intensify the mood of the storyline along side other codes of filmmaking in order to attract the audience to continue watching.   "It's our film! Introduction to Color in Film Preliminary Exercise 5: Black & White Color Grids

Image
11/10/2022      For this portion of my introduction, I was able to analyze films that featured frames with black and white color. The color black has connotations of death, darkness, the cold, and fear. Whereas, the color white has the connotations; life, death, mystical forces, and isolation in some cases. In the slide focused on the color black the director of MIB use the color black to establish the difference between the secret society and normal civilians, as you could see throughout the movie there are almost zero too nobody wearing black or black suits to be specific, further showing the separation/significance of the black suit being solely for the secret society. In the slide showcasing the color white, the director gives a sense of purity in characters wearing that color, associated with the setting.        For this exercise, I learned that monotone colors play just as much of a role as more vibrant pigments. Black and white is used in ...

Introduction to Color in Film Preliminary Exercise 5: Warm & Cool Colors.

Image
11/8/2022 A Comprehensive Blog Post for Preliminary Exercise #5  Warm color: Yellow  Cool Color: Blue          Based on the previous knowledge I've acquired, in the film industry colors are used to stimulate the overall deliverance of the tone, story, and plot line of a movie. When being specific, warm and cool colors may adhere different emotions towards the audience. Warm colors are used in a film to promote either a dangerous situation, or a cozy atmosphere during a scene. On the other hand, cool colors may be presented in a film to promote the inequality, calming effect on the audience (based on the action line that is happening). The connotations of what the viewers take on from the film is dependent on the producers- which is relatively notable for me to analyze in films.    Hence, this is what I did during this preliminary exercise! My partner Su-Young and I, were able to create this segment of the presentation using google slid...

The Analysis of Color                                         11/7/2022     When creating a film, one of the producers main objectives is to implement pigmentation. The term color grading, determines how colors can be used to create mood, and increase ambience inside a film. But first- what is color, and what does it mean during content creation? Color is what identifies the tone of a scene being presented, which connects different connotations to create a specific feeling for an audience. This is significant for a film's audience to help carry on the story that is being portrayed. Amplifying the feelings that the audience may have, and drawing attention to a recurring theme in the film. The three characteristic...

Activity 3: Mise En Scene Codes Definitions

Image
11/7/2022       For my Activity 3 project, there was many aspects to connect together. For this portion, I was able to match the key terms along with their definition. To create this media chart, I used google slides, which was my substitute for powerpoint. For reasoning, using google slides was certain to expand my creative freedom, since my partner and I was familiar with this tool. Task one not only gave a brief glossary-like list of meanings to refer back to, but will also assist the viewers with understanding the components of mise en scene. My partners Su-Young, Julien, and I shared different responsibilities- whereas my task was to develop ideas, and design how the chart were to look, Su-Young was able to find images and recollect data we previously learned from other activies to be written, and Julien wrote down the information in the caption labels, gathering our cognitive thoughts as a group!    Despite being familiar with each element, I learned one p...

Mise en scene Activity 3: Audience & Marketing

Image
11/7/2022      For this portion of the Activity 3, I can conclude that I am now able to identify the common ways that the film industry may draw a targeted audience to their movies by using marketing tactics. Ranging from the usage of moving pictures, or poster media advertisements, promoting something can entice different audiences, looking for the same quality! To create the task charts, my partners Julien, Su-young, And I used the media source google slides in order to expand our creative ignition on how we want our overall theme to look. The theme was focused on the movie 'It 2', and in our to collect information about this movie, we used research engines google and safari! Above, are images of the final chart we created based on the Audience and Marketing of our chosen film.     One thing I learned about piecing data together for each task is that you must include teamwork! The responsibility I was dominant in during this segment was to create th...

Introduction to Color in Film Preliminary Exercise 5: Primary Colors

Image
11/7/2022    For this portion of my introduction, I was able to analyze films that featured frames with primary colors. The color red has connotations of danger, romance, and anger Whereas, the color blue has the connotations; cold, sickness, and intuition in some cases. Followed up by the connotes of the color yellow:  sunshine, toxicity, and happiness. To create each piece of media (a chart), I used my personal laptop, with   google slides as a subset for a power point, and translating the report into a pdf. It Is significant for filmmakers to interrupt colors in film to ultimately prescribe a deep image on the way the audience takes away moving images. In essence, you may set the mood and tone of the story- which in the this phase of the groundwork of my film, I studied other movies that implemented these aspects.        For this exercise, I learned that primary colors play just as much of a role as monotone, and secondary c...

Introduction to Camerawork Warm-Up Preliminary Exercise 6

Image
11/7/2022     During this Exercise, I annotated my notes about Camera work. The elements I annotated are about Shot sizes, and Camera Angles. It is important to document your initial thoughts on what you are learning in order to  ensure my ability to understand what is happening in a source I am watching after you've seen it . As I annotated with my partner Chase, you noted the main definitions, key areas of focus, and land my own thoughts as I watch the YouTube video, which was my media source that provided me with the data I can use.  Here in this blog, I've uploaded images of my following document, along with the Youtube video link below as you scroll!  Youtube link:  https://youtu.be/IiyBo-qLDeM

Mise en scene Preliminary Exercise (Activity 3): Costume, Hair & Makeup

Image
During this portion of the exercise, I learned how to analyze the appearance of the protagonist from my chosen film. The media I created is a chart, and to craft this material, I used google slides, followed by gathering my information from watching clips of the film 'It 2', released on September 6th, 2022 found on YouTube. My partners Su-Young, Julien, and I used our personal laptops, which made it a swift process to design & report information onto the slide. However, one hitch that we encountered during this exercise was choosing who was responsible for the way the chart looked. We were able to overcome this obstacle by noting our responsibilities.      During the pre production of a film, it is crucial to have the elements of a character noted in order to use clues from the story to learn more about the character, It is also important because  it helps us understand the story, along with  bringing general captivation towards the...
